Berlin, Germany!!

Hey everyone!
This past weekend we had a three day weekend for President's Day. We started out in Frankfurt so that we could get our German Rail passes so we could ride the fast trains. Then Saturday we left for our trip to Berlin! We got lost finding our hostile, but that's part of the fun! Then we went and found a place to eat some dinner and we went to the Jewish Museum. It was alright, but after seeing Dachau, the biggest part of the history I like to learn about is about the Holocaust. It was all still interesting to see. After that, we went back to our hostile and played some cards and just hung out. Sunday morning, we decided to the do the free walking tour. Well a tipping tour, but technically it was free! It was amazing! We got to see and learn a lot about the history in Berlin. After that, we went to the Ritter Chocolate factory and looked around. I bought some chocolate, of course!! Then we found a delicious Italian restaurant where I had some tortellini and gluhwein (hot wine! I absolutely love it!!). We then caught our subway back to our hostile and hung out and played cards again. It was a lot of fun! Then Monday morning, I woke up with a stomach ache (after having a head and chest cold all weekend), so Melissa and I decided to catch the early train back while the other two stayed and walked around.
Here are some pictures from our weekend!!
Our hotel in Frankfurt! It was AMAZING!

The Torah at the Jewish Museum!
The hotel in Berlin where MJ hung his baby out the window.
 The US Embassy!!!!!
 The Brandenburg Gate

The Jewish memorial. The architect stated has never really stated what this was supposed to mean. Instead, he is leaving it up to the interpretation of the individual

The painting represents what life was supposed to be like.
 The French church

 The French church.
The opera house between the French and German church.
The French church, the Opera house, and the German church.
The German church made to look just like the French church. I believe the wall separated the two so the Germans built a church to somewhat mirror the image of the French church.
Me and Melissa on a very cold day!

Munich, Germany and Dachau Concentration Camp

Hey everyone!
Sorry it took a few days to update about my last weekend. It has been a crazy few days.
This past weekend, we went to Munich and had a great time. We got a map and did a walking tour of the city. We didn't quite make it the entire tour though. We basically stopped at the hofbrauhaus (beer house), where we met some pretty cool Germans. During our tour, we climbed up the 306 stairs of the St. Peter's tower to see the wonderful view of Munich! It was truly amazing!
On Sunday we went to take a tour of Dachau Concentration Camp. I cannot put into words the feelings and emotions I felt while walking around that place. I don't understand how human beings can be so cruel to one another. I must say that it did open my eyes to how wonderful my life is. Sure, my life does have ups and downs, but my downs are no where near as bad as what went on at this camp. I've been asked what I thought about it, and I just don't know how to describe it. It was amazing to see, but very heartbreaking. We did an audio tour and hearing stories from actual survivors was amazing. One man told a story about one of his punishments. They tied his hands behind his back and hung him from a tree by his wrists for an hour. I just cannot imagine what kind of person would think of something like that. I'm happy to have had the opportunity to be able to see something first hand that we have been taught. It was an experience I know I will never forget!
On the schedule for this weekend is Berlin, Germany! I am very excited because it is a 3 day weekend and I know there are a ton of things to do and see in Berlin!!
Here are some pictures from my weekend! I have many many more posted on my facebook!!
 Hello Munich! :)

Inside the St. Peter's Church. I thought this was amazing!
 The church again!
After 306 stairs in some VERY narrow hallways, this is the view of Munich we were able to see. Absolutely GORGEOUS!
 The Rathaus from the tower!
 :)
 LOVE the Hofbrauhaus!
 I think I'll have a 1 liter beer!
 YUM!
 Love it!
Apparently Germans DO NOT know how to take pictures! :)
Dachau. This is where the barracks were placed. They had a total of 30 barracks. They measured 10 meters by 100 meters and were built for 200 people. By the time it was over, 2,000 prisoners were in EACH barrack. This is something my mind cannot even fathom!

 Crematorium
Memorial for the THOUSANDS of unknown.
 Oven..
 More ovens..
Shower room.. AKA the gas chamber.
 Inside the "shower" room
 The Protestant Memorial
 The Jewish Memorial
 The Catholic Memorial
Camp Road. The prisoners marched this every single day.
A re-make of what the barracks looked like.
 The memorial for Dachau
 Memorial again.
 "NEVER AGAIN"
Fences with barbed wire EVERYWHERE! If the prisoners crossed a certain point, they would be automatically shot. Some would cross this line on purpose so they wouldn't have to endure the pain any longer.

"May the example of those terminated here between 1933-1945 because they resisted nazism help to unit the living for the defense of peace and freedom and in respect for their fellow men"

I am so blessed to be able to have the experiences I have had so far. Traveling has been great and so has work!
I absolutely love my job and the kids. The lead teacher in the preschool room told my Project Coordinator that I am awesome and that shes loves me. She is so kind and absolutely wonderful! I love playing with the kids and just spending time with them. This experience has blessed me in many more ways than one!
